معدل تقييم المستوى: 4 ![]() | الباحث: أ / سلوى عبد الأمير هادي الدرجة العلمية: ماجستير الجامعة: صنعاء الكلية: الآداب القسم: اللغة الإنجليزية لغة الدراسة: الإنجليزية تاريخ الإقرار: 2007Abstract: The main aim of this thesis is to study and evaluate the spoken ability of the first level students and also the spoken ability of the fourth level students in the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, University of Sana'a. The study was based on a test in the form of a list of words of more than one syllable. This was done for finding out how such students would place the word stress. Both qualitative and quantitative data were incorporated into the thesis. It was found out that the fourth level students have achieved a better position with regard to the spoken ability shown in the results of the study. A number of recommendations have been made at the end of the study and it is hoped that policy planners, textbook writers, writers and evaluators of achievement and proficiency tests and classroom teachers can make a creative use of these recommendations. The thesis comprises six chapters. Chapter I deals with background information and introductory remarks concerning the thesis. Chapter 2 is devoted to a brief critical mention of the important trends in language testing, particularly in the field of tests developed for the assessment of students' spoken ability. Chapter 3 discusses the methods and procedures used in this study. Chapter 4 discusses the spoken abilities of the students of Level 1 and Level IV. Chapter 5 is devoted to the comparison of the spoken abilities of Level 1 and Level IV students.
