Abstract
This thesis embodies a study of theme of love and gloom in Wuthering Height written by Emily Bronte. The study comprises five chapters.
Chapter One provides the rise of the novel till 19th century.
It also outlines development of novel the history of novel. Then we present an Overview of Emily Brontë.
Themes and characters Publication of Wuthering Heights and its contemporary critical reception. Later there is an attempt to analyze the critical response to Wuthering Heights. Wuthering heights as socio-economic novel. Psychological interpretation of Wuthering Heights. Religion, metaphysics, and mysticism in the novel; The English gothic novel: a brief overview. The gothic and Wuthering heights; A feminist theory of the gothic and Wuthering heights. The Romantic novel, romanticism, and Wuthering heights; Romantic love in Wuthering heights. Sex in Wuthering heights and Character List
Chapter Two attempts to synthesize critical responses to Brontes Wuthering Heights so as to put her novel in a correct critical perspective. This chapter is intended to form a produce to the next chapter which discusses the them of love and gloom in the novel .
Chapter Three A study of Wuthering Heights. Theme of love, Theme of gloom.
Chapter Four An explanation of the theme of love and gloom in the novel.
Chapter Five is a conclusion about my research, and my perspective to my thesis and direction of extending this research to be more effective. Added to this, in this chapter, I state my recommendations to other researchers in this field.
